So I'm sitting on the train yesterday....this man clumsily and sloppily sits next to me. He takes out something to read and opens up his bag from the bakery shop. He proceeds to inhale a croissant. He is reading and tearing at this thing as he shoves it in his mouth all the while pretending to read. We all know nothing is being actually read because who in their right mind can concentrate while eating like that? Plus, your reading material is filled with flakey crumbs? So he keeps eating, making smacking noises which I can't stand (one of my top pet peeves)...and basically snorting as he breathes this poor piece of bread in.
When he finishes, he crumples the bag and sticks it on the seat between us. 2 seconds later he is fast asleep and snoring away. Why bother taking out the reading material when you're THAT TIRED? And secondly, please don't ever let me get this way. A fat sloth who sleeps right after they eat. I see this as more motivation...who knows, if I let myself go I could turn into that one day. So here we go... a new motivational photo for me. Meet Fred.
k, back to the food...
didnt realize i was allergic to nectarines until....yesterday when i had one and my throat started to swell and get itchy.
thought i was being cool brining 2 nectarines into the office as a snack. excited to snack on something so low-cal. then my throat starts to itch and i feel like i have a hairball caught in my throat. great. threw it away and grabbed a bag of 100 cal veggie chips instead to help subside the itching. didnt go away for a few hours...
had a salad for lunch (photo).
snack was a small handful of mixed nuts.
4:30 snack was 5 crackers at 80 cals.
dinner was tofu curry soup...and some fish cakes with broccoli and onions (korean style). i notice that everytime i try to eat more healthy, i revert back to Asian cuisine. hmmmm.
Tofu Curry Soup:
- 2 cans of lite coconut milk (250 cals each)
- 1/4 cup of red curry paste (45 cals)
- 2 tbsp soy sauce (20 cals)
-2.5 cups of chicken broth ( 12.5 cals)
-1 tbsp brown sugar (45 cals)
-tofu (175 cals)
-1.2 cup of white rice (121 cals)
- any type of veggies you want, i used string beans, green peppers and onions
This dish is pretty simple to make, just add everything and let it boil down. You can adjust the main ingredients, use chicken, shrimp or any other kind of veggie you want. I tried to water this down just a bit...
I calculate the entire soup pot to be 548 calories. could that be right? It made like 5 or 6 bowls and I only had one with the rice. so my meal with the rice is 230 cals? i dont think thats right.... seems way too low. (i used the calories from the actual boxes/cans of each item).
In any case, I Also made a side dish of fish cake and broccoli:
The ingredients:
- 6 oz broccoli (48 cals)
- quarter of an onion (14 cals)
- package of fish cakes (200 cals for entire thing)
- 2 tbsp sesame oil (240 cals) - WOW!
- some hot pepper flakes and sesame seeds (both optional)
Jae and I split this and so this was probably about 250 cals for me.

congrats on the 1lb!! yay! And fred is disgusting. as you know, i can't stand when people make noise while eating, and to do it in a train, in public is 100 times worse. what is wrong with people? also, that soup looks delicious. i love those fish cakes!
